BJ Foundation emerge winners of Lion Izo grassroots football tourney

BJ Foundation Football Club of Benin last Sunday emerged winners of Lion Izo Football Championship in Benin after pipping Yak Sport FC by a lone goal.

Osaretin Ewere scored the only goal of the final match in the 86th minute to ensure  BJ Foundation beat resilient Yak Sport FC .

The champions went home with $200 cash prize with a gold cup while the runners up pocketed $100 with silver cup.

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance Feeders sensation, Efe Agbama Ugiagbe, who is on loan at Ine Stars was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) and highest goal scorer of the tournament with five goals carting home the award plaque.

Coach Chinedun Ubah also went home with the best coach of the tournament award.

Speaking with journalists, the organizer of the tournament and President of Lion Izo Foundation, Ambassador Eghe Iyekoretin Igiozee, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the tournament and promised to make it an annual event.

He encouraged Edo youths to embrace sports now that Edo government has made solid sports infrastructure available for them in the state, while also highlighting sports benefits to include physical and mental health as well as economic and international exposure among others.
