BREAKING —Finally, Supreme Court Settles Edo PDP Disagreement

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, today, January I, 2023, finally settled the disagreement between two sections of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that had engaged in legal tussle since the delegate election and party pramaries that were conducted in the state.

The two groups had claimed superiority of the outcomes of their elections, with one relying on the ‘supervision’ of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, while the other insisted on the omnibus power of the National Working Committee of the party.

The hydra headed legal tussels travelled from several lower courts to appeals at Court of Appeal and finally the Supreme Court.

The Court adjourned for Judgement last week. At the resumed hearing today, the court adjourned till 1pm, to deliver judgment.

Pointedly, the Supreme Court Justices remarked that, the “…issue for determination formulated by Ferdinand Orbih for the Appellants does not flow from the decision of the lower court.”

The appeal was subsequently dismissed, bringing to conclusion, the hostility that has threatened the cohesion of the party in Edo State.
