Edo South Councillors reiterate commitment to re-election of Godwin Obaseki

Edo South Councillors, an umbrella body of legislators across the seven local government areas in Edo South Senatorial district have reiterated their support to the second term bid of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The group disclosed this after a meeting held at the Oredo Local Government Secretariat, Kings Square Benin where they condemned insinuations in some quarters that they have deserted the state governor ahead of the Edo State Governoship election.

Present at meeting were leader Oredo legislative assembly and convener Jeffrey Osazuwa Ewansiha, Ikoba Okha Kingsley Igbaloba, Orhionmwno Hope Enogieru, Uhonmude Liberty Aijioya, Egor Alex Ugbo. Others are Leaders of Ovia South West legislative assembly Desmond Owenvbugie and his Ovia south west counterpart Ojo Oluwafemi Uyi.

Speaking on behalf of other the leaders of Oredo, Ikpoba Okha, Orhionmwon and Uhonmwunde legislative arms in their separate remarks described Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Comrade Philip Shauibu as the new dispensation of democratic governance in Edo state in view of the monumental achievement recorded under their leadership in the past three years. They added that this explains why they resolved before now to go in any direction with the governor and his deputy geared towards sustaining the dividends of good governance evidenced in all the nooks and crannies of Edo State as it will be inimical to the collective will, peace, progress and development of Edo State if they reneged on this pledged as is currently being speculated in some quarters. While calling on Edo people to vote for governor Godwin Obaseki and the peoples democratic party in the September 19 Edo State governorship elections the Edo South Councillors said they are irrevocably committed to re-electing governor Obaseki for a second term as the only panacea to keep the pace of transformation in Edo state

The high point of the meeting was the inauguration of the Edo South Councillors campaign council for the governorship election which the group say is their strategic contributions for the sensitization ,mobilization and education of the people at the grass root level in all the local government areas in Edo south towards the realization of the Obaseki and Shauibu project.

Some attendees in an interview who described the meeting as a pointer to the unanimity of the legislators to deliver on the re-election of governor Godwin Obaseki come September 19 .
