The Action Alliance governorship candidate for Edo 2024 Prince Tom Iseghohi-Okojie has expressed great concern and deep sadness over the recent alleged  violent attack on the convoy of Edo state  Deputy Governor  comrade Philip Shaibu in Benin.

In a press release, the AA governorship candidate said the  heinous act, which resulted in many injuries, underscores the urgent need for a firm stance against violence and thuggery in in the Edo political processes maintaining  that violence and illegality in the pursuit of power are not justifiable by any means as such actions are a slippery slope to anarchy, undermining the very fabric of our society.

Prince Iseghohi-Okojie who opined that when the rule of law is eroded, society descends into chaos, disclosed  that when  might becomes right, and justice is replaced by fear and oppression, the common good is sacrificed on the altar of individual greed and ambition adding that anyone who seeks power through violence and illegality is not aiming to govern but to capture the state for personal gain which is an affront on democracy and a betrayal of the trust of the people.

Speaking further, the AA gubernatorial candidate  said his  vision for Edo State  encapsulated in the Prince Tom Contract with the Edo People manifesto, also known as the PUP Culture, is built on the pillars of Peace, Unity, and Prosperity where under his leadership, Edo State will return to being the envy of the nation ,championing  good governance, transparency, and accountability and  ensuring that the wealth of Edo is used for the betterment of its people.

He pledged to  slave for what Edo people need and what they  want through  sacrifice, dedication and  working tirelessly to meet the needs and aspirations so that Edo state can rise and thrive.

While admonishing what he describes as the top 4 parties (PDP, APC, AA & Labour to  be committed to nonviolence as the upcoming election approaches, Prince Tom Iseghohi-Okojie also  used the opportunity to call on the  candidates in the top 4 parties to publicly denounce violence and thuggery.

He therefore urged the people of Edo State to be vigilant and chose leaders  who are committed to peace, unity, and prosperity and reject those who resort to violence and illegality to build a better future for Edo state through the instrumentality of their voters card and ballot box.
