Hon. Justice O. M. Obayuwana AICMC,  was called to the Nigerian Bar in October 2004 and holds a master’s degree LLM from the prestigious University of Benin in 2011, where he also bagged his LLB in 2003.
He attended the Nigeria Law School (Kanu Campus), where he bagged the award of Alhaji A. Abdu-Razaq’s Prize in criminal trial for the 2003/2004 session, as well as earned the commendation for industry, dedication and excellence by the Council of Legal Education under the hand of the Deputy Director General of the Nigeria Law School and head of the Kano campus, Dr. Tahir Mamman.

Justice Osarenren Mathias Obayuwana, AICMC up till his appointment has been in very active private  legal practice for 20 years since his call to Bar from 2004 up till June 2023 when he was recommended by the National Judicial Council for appointment as a Judicial Officer (High Court Judge) for Edo State Judiciary alongside seven others. Prior to his appointment, he was in private law practice, the Principal Counsel in the law firm of O. M. Obayuwana & Co. (Nosawema Chambers), which he established in 2010 after his pupilage with the law firm of Osagie Obayuwana & Co, (Unity Chambers) from 2004 to 2010 where he rose to the position of deputy head of chambers (Litigations).  He was an astute member of the Benin Bar, also known as the Lion’s Bar, where he was the Chairman of NBA Benin, Public Defenders’ Committee rendering pro bono services to the less privileged and the oppressed in the society.Hon. Justice O. M. Obayuwana has been an outstanding pro-democracy and human rights advocate, a regular guest on Independent Television and Radio, and expecially on the program ‘LAW AND YOU’ where he graciously shared his wealth of knowledge of the law with the general public on topical legal issues.
Hon. Justice O. M. Obayuwana’s appointment as a High Court Judge of Edo State has been described as not only  well-deserving  but a valued addition to the Bench as this  remarkable achievement is  a testament to his dedication, expertise, and commitment to upholding justice.
