Nigeria evacuates 2,000 from Sudan
No fewer than 1,993 Nigerians in Sudan have been evacuated, according to available information
Nigerians were flown in from Aswan International Airport, Egypt and Port Sudan, Sudan.
The latest evacuation saw the arrival of 128 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Wednesday around 10:30 am. Another flight came in on Tuesday night with 126 evacuees
The evacuation exercise started last Wednesday with the arrival of 376 evacuees through the Aswan airport, Egypt.So far, not less than 1,993 infants, children, women, men, and students have been brought home since war broke out in Sudan.
They were received on behalf of the Federal Government by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Ahmed who was represented by the Director of Special Duties, Dr. Onimode Bandele.
Also present were representatives of other relevant agencies.
