PANDEF calls for Wike‘s intervention in land dispute involving late Col. Paul Ogbebor’s estate
The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has urged the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, to intervene in the ongoing land crisis surrounding a property previously allocated to the late Colonel Paul Ogbebor, a renowned Nigerian nationalist and military hero.
The news of the revocation of the land allocated to Ogbebor, who passed away recently, has sparked widespread media attention, both in traditional outlets and on social media platforms. PANDEF has expressed concern over the handling of the land, which was allocated to Ogbebor, a prominent figure in Nigerian history.Ogbebor was the first Nigerian to be enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy’s Cadet Course 1, serving both within Nigeria and abroad, earning numerous medals for his distinguished service.
Ogbebor was also a founding member of PANDEF, an influential political body that has played a significant role in advocating for the interests of the Niger Delta region, particularly during a period of declining oil production. The organization credits Ogbebor’s contributions to its success in addressing the region’s grievances and improving oil production.
In a statement signed by Chief Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF’s National Spokesman, the forum calls on the FCT Minister to act decisively to protect the legacy of the late military hero. The group urges Wike to exhibit “a high level of the spirit of statesmanship” by halting the reallocation of the estate and ensuring that Ogbebor’s contributions to the nation are not overlooked.
PANDEF’s statement emphasizes the importance of preserving the dignity of Nigerian heroes, particularly in matters that affect their legacy and contributions to national development.
