EDOSCO alleges plan by EDSG and traditional rulers to ceed land to FG
Edo Civil Society Organization says it has uncovered plans for a secret meeting between traditional rulers and Edo State Governor to be held on October 15th, 2021 in respect of ceding lands to the federal government on the National Livestock Transformation Programme.
In a statement signed by Secretary EDOSCO, Comrade Omoruyi Egharevba noted that Edo people only requested the governor in a Town Hall Meeting to send an Executive Bill to the State Assembly to ban open grazing and not to cede lands to the federal government to build ranches.
The statement which enjoined all traditional rulers that will be present in the so-called secret meeting to reject the plans to give lands to the federal government as cattle rearing is a private business added that those that intend to invest in it should be capable of building their ranches as citizens of the state can’t open their eyes and create problems for generations saying the Civil Society Movement in Edo State has consistently said no to the National Livestock Transformation Programme in Edo State and will resist every attempt to clandestinely mortgage the future of Edo.
