COEASU supports reappointment of Edo College of Education registrar
The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union(COEASU), Edo State chapter, has thrown its weight behind the reappointment of Mr Mike Ekhovbiye as the Registrar of Edo College of Education, Igueben, saying that his choice by the government of Edo State was a welcomed development.
Immediate past chairman of the Igueben branch of the union, Mallam Sado Abbas, made the union’s position known while reacting to what he called sponsored protest against Mike Ekhovbiye’s reappointment by some indigenes of Igueben who are uncomfortable with his anti corruption stance.
The union insists that the choice of Mr Ekhovbiye, who is also the PRO of the Conference of Registrars of Colleges of Education in Nigeria, by the Government of Edo State was a good move, and declared their hundred percent support for him and Governor Obaseki who found him worthy to remain in the position.
Mallam Abbas while speaking with journalists maintained that “there is nothing wrong with the reappointment of Mr Ekhovbiye having distinguished himself in his first term in office.
He noted that those resisting his reappointment are doing so out of jealousy.
“They are only crucifying him for his steadfastness and zero tolerance for corruption in the system.
“He has been in the position for the past five years before he was immediately reappointed by Edo State Government’s on April 21,2021 having been found worthy by the Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki,” Abbas explained.
The allegation was that some group of suspected sponsored protesters on Wednesday stormed the venue of the press conference conveyed by the Registrar and disrupted the proceedings, forcing members to abandon the meeting.
